Step 3 Listen

Allow time to listen to the response without interrupting.

You know the person

Is there something you know they would like to achieve in order to improve their situation? Perhaps they would like to:

  • get a particular qualification or licence?
  • help their kids with their homework?
  • apply for a job or promotion?
  • become more independent with using a computer or digital device?

Remember to listen

Listening allows you to be certain your assumption is correct.

Listening can give you an opportunity to hear what they would like to learn and why.

Listen for a goal that is relevant to them. Use that goal to refer them to the 1300 number.
